1. Export vegetable varieties are becoming increasingly diversified
(1) Fresh vegetables. The export of fresh vegetables has shown a rapid growth trend in recent years. According to statistics, in 1998, China's vegetable exports were 1.9634 million tons, of which 1.1696 million tons were fresh vegetables, accounting for 67.87% of the vegetable export volume.
(2) Vegetable pickled products. Pickled vegetables are a widely popular vegetable product, with China exporting only about 200000 tons to Japan annually.
(3) Dried vegetable products. There are currently more than 20 dehydrated vegetable varieties in China, mainly including onions, garlic, carrots, ginger, cauliflower, and gourds, with an annual export volume of about 26000 tons and a foreign exchange earnings of over 200 million US dollars.
(4) Canned vegetables. Canned vegetables have a history of 90 years in China, accounting for about 30% -40% of the total canned goods. In terms of export value, canned vegetables account for more than 50% of the total canned goods. The main varieties include canned asparagus, canned tomatoes, canned mushrooms, and canned water chestnuts.
(5) Vegetable soup. Some special groups of people, such as those engaged in fieldwork, ocean voyages, combat, and even those with special illnesses, also need to consume a large amount of commercial soup. The development of soup processing in our country is slow, and there is not much processing of vegetable soup. Currently, there are only a few varieties such as asparagus soup, which still need to be extensively developed.
(6) Freeze preserved vegetables. There are many types of frozen vegetables in China, such as frozen vegetables, frozen ginger chunks, frozen asparagus, and frozen kidney beans.
2. Vegetable exports cover multiple countries and regions around the world
In recent years, China's vegetable export market has been expanding year by year, with exports reaching many countries and regions around the world. For example, fresh vegetables are mainly exported to Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the United States, and Middle Eastern countries, while some specialty vegetables such as ginger are also exported to the United Kingdom, Australia, and France; Pickled vegetables are mainly exported to Japan, South Korea, the United States, and Singapore; Dehydrated vegetables are mainly sold to Western European countries, Japan, the United States, Australia, South Korea, and Singapore; Canned vegetables are mainly exported to Western European countries, the United States, Japan, and South Korea; Vegetable soup is mainly exported to the United States, Western European countries, Japan, and Hong Kong, with Hong Kong alone consuming 5000 tons annually; Frozen preserved vegetables are mainly exported to Japan, South Korea, the United States, Western European countries, New Zealand, and Australia.
